This is an open community for anyone who is learning Spanish as a second language. You can choose between 'Beginners' (who are not yet able to communicate in Spanish with any confidence) and 'Improvers' who have basic communication skills, but need to practice them.

This is not a complete course, but a set of open educational resources and activities. We hope it will be useful, and will also inspire you to add your own lessons, or create new communities.

The learning activies are structured around the Europa en Comunicación guide to Spanish as a Second Language, published by the European Commission. We have articulated this into four areas of competence, each of which is divided into four to six levels

• understanding
• speaking fluency
• social interaction
• writing
